ABOUT YOUNG BLACK PROFESSIONALS COALITION: The Young Black Professionals Coalition (YBPC) is focused on the enduring education of African-Americans by providing tools to enhance ones overall wellness through personal and professional development workshops, social activities, and continuous education.
ABOUT DJ MR. KING: Steve “DJ Mr. King” King is a 2006 graduate of The Ohio State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in journalism communication. Since 2003, DJ Mr. King has provided the city of Akron with the best nightlife entertainment and live shows. He is also one of three co-founders of marketing and promotions company, Tha Takeover Productions, and president of Young Black Professionals Coalition (YBPC). Having traveled the country, spinning in some of the most famous venues in the United States, King has maintained his humbleness and still returns home to help coordinate various club and community events. His success on the DJ circuit has led to many features and write-ups in national magazines and prominent websites, in addition to opening up other doors professionally.

HUNDREDS TURN OUT FOR YOUNG BLACK PROFESSIONALS COALITION AND DJ MR. KING'S BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE IN AKRON
AKRON, Ohio – August 30, 2010 – The Young Black Professionals Coalition (YBPC) and DJ Mr. King hosted its 3rd Annual “I Know I Can” Back 2 School Drive this past Saturday at Deon’s Grooming Lounge in Akron, attracting more than 500 inner city youth, parents and volunteers .

The event, designed to prepare students for the upcoming school year, saw students receive bookbags filled with school supplies as well as gift bags from Limited Brands & Communities in Schools of Central Ohio. Young men were provided with free haircuts while young women will receive discounted hair washing and styling courtesy of Polished Hair Designs as well as free nail design courtesy of Allison Harvery.

In the past three years, the event has reached more than 1,500 children and 600 adults from low-income families in the Akron area.

"The event was very successful," said YBPC volunteer coordinator Tanesha Walker. "Not only was it beneficial to the kids and parents but it was also fulfilling to all the volunteers invlolved."
